Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS “no talloc stackframe at ../source3/param/loadparm.c:4864, leaking memory”

Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS is the perfect operating system for your budget friendly build. However, there seems to be an issue with many users getting “no talloc stackframe at ../source3/param/loadparm.c:4864, leaking memory” whilst in terminal.

This is due to an error with the libpam-smbpass module which synchronizes the system users and passwords with the Samba user database. It can be disabled to remove the memory leak by entering

pam-auth-update

and removing “SMB password synchronization” by unchecking the relevant box

Once the component has been repaired (https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8449 states that the next release will fix this) you can turn on the synchronization by running ” pam-auth-update” again
